My Current 'Ride or Die' Lipsticks
Ladies, a good lipstick can completely change your look, your day… hell your life!
Most days, I have crap greasy hair and eyebrows that look more like distant cousins than sisters. On those days, I whip out a bold lippy and it completely changes how I look and feel. I have always been obsessed with lipstick, from back in the day of dance shows when I had to wear bright red six nights in a row. From the age of five I was hooked. I would go as far as to say that I collect lipsticks. I wear everything I buy but honestly you can never have enough options. Unfortunately, the Aussie heat has played havoc on my collection over the years. Too many good lippies lost to the 35 degree heat whilst sitting in my clutch on an outdoor table. I can’t even talk about it. Maybe just say a prayer… us Aussies, we’ve lost a lot of good girls out there.
On a happier note - these are the lipsticks that are currently on rotation in my go to makeup collection.
Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in ‘Angelic Nude’
I love these Amazonian Butter lippies – they glide on so smooth and creamy leaving the perfect amount on product behind. They contain a small amount of peppermint oil which leaves your lips refreshed and tingly too. I will say that the formula is very soft, and that I have broken one clean in half before during application! So my tip is be super careful or use a lip brush.
Huda Beauty liquid lipstick in ‘Trophy Wife’
I’ve been rocking this baby for a while now. I purchased it from Sephora in Sydney during one of my wedding dress trips, and fell instantly in love with both the formula and the colour. It comes with a doe-foot applicator which makes life super easy. ‘Trophy Wife’ is that perfect shade for when you want something a bit more dramatic than a nude lip, but not as bold as a big red pout. The formula is everything you want from a liquid lipstick – not too drying and it doesn’t bleed. I actually wore the shade ‘Bombshell’ for my wedding and it lasted for hours and hours… plus once it’s dry its kiss proof! Tip: Most liquid lipsticks will dry darker, so when testing make sure you wait for it to dry for a few minutes before making up your mind.
This has been my ride or die nude lipstick for near on two years now! I purchased it one Christmas over in the UK and I’ve never looked back. It was the year I stopped buying Mac’s matt lipsticks because I find them so terribly drying on my lips… #AintNobodyGotTimeForCrustyLips! So I switched to their satin formula and I love how it still has long wearability. I can glide this shade on in a rush for a relaxed makeup look, or team with Mac lipliner in ‘Whirl’ for a more defined lip.
Too Faced Melted in ‘Lady Balls’
And ladies – it gives you balls. My love affair with red lipstick will last a lifetime, if for no other reason than the confidence I feel when wearing it. These Too Faces liquid lippies are another great formula on the market. These also have a doe-foot applicator which I think is the perfect way to apply liquid lipstick. They definitely dry much darker than when originally applied so bear that in mind. I purchased a purple toned nude which actually dries more like a solid purple. However, you can’t go wrong with a blue toned red. I think it’s actually replaced my Mac ‘Russian Red’!
If it’s time for a treat ladies, buy yourself a new lippy and wear it confidently with a big smile on your face, knowing that you are fierce and that your new lipstick is about to help you slay your day.
Much love guys,
